Daniel Wilkins San Antonio, Texas

“Our rural school district houses nearly 5,500 students 85% of which lack the access to internet. Our schools stay open until nearly midnight to allow students the ability to complete their homework assignments. I stand with the coalition to push for rural broadband access.”

Arville George
Syracuse, New York

“I’m a rural Infectious Disease Doc and patients in rural areas are absolutely not served appropriately. Their fear of being away from families at a critical time causes them to refuse transfer to the big medical centers – they actually choose to die rather than to leave home. They need access.”

Bill Sawtelle
Lineville, Alabama

“We moved to Clay County Alabama in 2016. We immediately discovered that we lacked broadband access. We operate a small farm and have many areas where we want to use wireless internet: the hot water, solar and greenhouse systems… It’s impossible with what what’s available.”

Cordelia Brown
McLouth, Kansas

“For years we’d paid for the slowest internet, which was all that was offered our 20-acre horse farm. Finally we cancelled it. Before the final billing date we called and said we’ve changed our minds, we want it back. They couldn’t do it! Internet is so tight out in our area, they only have a certain amount to give. We can’t get satellite. We live in a hollow. The same business came out to try, but from our roof, they couldn’t get a view of the southern sky.”

Ava Riley

Coventry, Rhode Island

“I believe every American kid needs access to the internet for the best possible education experience and for real time info about the world around them.”

Randy Taylor

Ridgeland, Mississippi

I struggle connecting to internet at my deer camp in Yazoo County. I won’t be able to make a call or access my e-mail. Even when I come to the fair I struggle with access. I know people from Louisiana who drive in for the event and have to drive an extra 20 miles to a restaurant in order to connect for work.

Joe Cloyd

Ocean Springs Mississippi

At my home in Ocean Springs, our access to broadband is great. However, when I travel to see family in Prentiss, Mississippi I struggle to stay connected to the business I run. It would be great to have the same kind of access in Prentiss as I do in Ocean Springs.

Gracie Bellnap

Jackson, Mississippi

While conducting turtle bridge surveys in central MS I wasn’t able to use my phone to communicate with my professor about some questions we had regarding the research. With just me and another young woman out there, we didn’t feel safe since we were really alone without service.

Garrett McInnis

Jackson, Mississippi

My family lives in rural parts of Mississippi, and it’s disabling when we visit because we cannot get our devices to work. With work, I need access, so it makes it hard to have a long visit with my family because of work demands.

Brian Perry

Jackson, Mississippi

In Jackson, I have access to broadband, but when I travel around Mississippi it’s hard to find access. I find myself looking for a coffee shop to get internet. It’s time-consuming and costly. I am fortunate I live in Jackson, but most of our state is not so lucky.
