Eliminating the Broadband Gap Will Help American Industry, Small Businesses & Workers Compete and Thrive in the 21st Century Global Economy
Washington, D.C. – On taking office, the Biden Administration set thematics for each day of the new president’s first weeks in office to highlight top priorities for the nation. Each day Connect Americans Now (CAN) will weigh-in with our take — outlining how eliminating the digital divide is critical to achieving these objectives. Today, CAN executive director Richard T. Cullen released the following statement on the administration’s Monday focus on boosting American businesses and workers through Buy America policies.
“In the 21st Century economy, one of the most concrete tools our nation can deploy to empower and support American businesses and industry is access to broadband internet,” said Richard T. Cullen, executive director of CAN. “Broadband is a necessary resource that allows American enterprise to compete and innovate in a global marketplace.”
“Digital adoption in underserved communities creates new educational and career opportunities — supporting businesses with access to skilled workers; Broadband-enabled technology helps businesses adapt, market their products and thrive; Broadband-supported precision agriculture allows America’s farmers and ranchers to conserve resources while increasing yields,” Cullen said. “Every sector of the American economy will benefit by the advancement of critical solutions to bridge the digital divide.”
