PRESS RELEASE

Washington, D.C. – Connect Americans Now (CAN) Executive Director Richard T. Cullen released the following statement in response to the introduction of the LIFT America Act, an infrastructure bill introduced by Congressman Frank Pallone that includes $40 billion for broadband deployment:
“As Congress and the administration move forward on an infrastructure package, we applaud the strong bipartisan commitment to ensuring rural broadband connectivity is addressed. Millions of rural Americans are struggling on the wrong side of the digital divide, and an infrastructure package is an important opportunity to improve lives.
“As we consider spending billions of taxpayer dollars on rural broadband deployment, ensuring internet service providers have access to innovative solutions that lower deployment costs will be critical. To that end, we urge the Federal Communications Commission to continue removing the regulatory barriers that are limiting access to TV white spaces technology.”
