PRESS RELEASE
May 7, 2019

Washington, D.C. – Connect Americans Now Executive Director Richard T. Cullen released the following statement in response to today’s U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee hearing on the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) FY2020 budget request:

“CAN appreciates Chairman John Kennedy, Ranking Member Christopher Coons and all members of the committee for their focus on the FCC’s role in bridging the digital divide during today’s FY2020 appropriations hearing. They were correct to note concerns about the FCC’s broadband maps and Form 477 process, which are overstating broadband access and leaving struggling rural communities without funding for broadband deployment. CAN echoes their call for improving Form 477 with better, more granular data and gathering third-party and crowdsourced data in the meantime.”

Join our fight to bring broadband to all rural Americans. Tell Washington to take action to bridge the digital divide now!
